Gizem Mestav Sarica
Gizem is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management, Interdisciplinary Graduate School, NTU. Her research interests include urban growth modeling, disaster risk assessment, disaster loss estimation and spatial analysis. She is particularly focusing on Asian megacities (Metro Manila, Jakarta, Shenzhen and Istanbul) in her current research.
She received her B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering and M.Sc. degree in Structural Mechanics from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. She worked for three years for a national project called “Development of Design and Construction Technologies for Bridge Engineering in Turkey” during her M.Sc. study. She also worked as a research affiliate at Urban Risk Lab, MIT for one semester of her Ph.D. study.
