Maricar L. Rabonza
Maricar joined the lab in 2018 as a PhD student under Asian School of the Environment with research funding from the National Research Foundation (Singapore) Fellowship grant along with an Earth Observatory of Singapore scholarship.
She holds a masters degree on Civil Engineering specialising on Geotechnical Engineering. Her past research involves modeling seismic response of earth dams, as well as probabilistic modeling of landslide hazards.
Her PhD research is about large-scale natural hazards risk analysis modelling to better characterise the spatial and temporal dynamics of urban environments amidst rapidly changing local exposure and vulnerability. She uses techniques from structural engineering, predictive modelling, probabilistic hazard analysis and other statistical methods to investigate impactful and novel research to promote resilience in cities.
